What's Happening
We're migrating everyone to a new Google Workspace organisation under verve.com. Your email, Drive files, Calendar events, and Chat messages are being copied across using an automated migration tool. Your data in the old account is not deleted until we have confirmed everything is in order.
Which Account to Use — System Login Reference
Not all apps will switch to Google SSO with the new account on Day 1. Use this table to know which account to log in with for each system. IT will keep this updated as apps are transitioned.
| System / App | Login Account | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | New (verve.com) | Migrated on your migration date |
| Google Drive | New (verve.com) | Migrated on your migration date |
| Google Calendar | New (verve.com) | Migrated on your migration date |
| Slack | Old account until further notice | SSO not yet switched — use existing login |
| Salesforce | Verve EntralD/HiBob | Transition in progress. check with IT |
| All other apps | Old account until further notice | We will migrate one at a time |
💡 This table is maintained by IT and updated as apps are transitioned to the new account.
Setting Up Your New Chrome Profile
Step-by-step: Create a new Chrome profile
- Open Google Chrome. In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar (the circle showing your name or photo).
- At the bottom of the dropdown panel, click "Add" (you may see a "+" icon or "Add another account" depending on your Chrome version).
- A new Chrome window will open with a setup screen. Click "Sign in" when prompted.
- Enter your new verve.com email address and password to sign in to your Google account.
- Chrome will ask if you want to turn on sync. Click "Yes, I'm in" to sync your bookmarks, extensions, and settings to the new profile — or "No thanks" if you prefer to keep things separate.
- Your new profile window is now ready. Chrome will colour-code the toolbar so you can easily tell the two profiles apart. You can rename or recolour your profile by clicking the avatar → Manage profiles → the pencil icon.
- To switch between profiles at any time, click the profile avatar in the top-right corner of any Chrome window and select the profile you need.
Export & Import Chrome Bookmarks
Part 1 — Export bookmarks from your old profile
- In your old Chrome profile, open the Bookmark Manager by pressing
Ctrl+Shift+O(Windows) or⌘+Option+B(Mac), or navigate tochrome://bookmarksin the address bar. - Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner of the Bookmark Manager panel.
- Click "Export bookmarks". Chrome will download a file called
bookmarks_[date].html— save it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop.
Part 2 — Import bookmarks into your new profile
- Switch to your new verve.com Chrome profile (see Section 03 if you haven't set it up yet).
- Open the Bookmark Manager at
chrome://bookmarksor viaCtrl+Shift+O/⌘+Option+B. - Click the three-dot menu (⋮) and select "Import bookmarks".
- Select the
bookmarks_[date].htmlfile you exported and click "Open". - Your bookmarks will appear in a folder called "Imported" in the bookmarks bar. You can drag them out of this folder to reorganise as needed.
Chrome Extensions
Extensions installed in your old Chrome profile will not automatically carry over to your new profile. You'll need to reinstall any extensions you use regularly.
- To see which extensions you had, visit
chrome://extensionsin your old profile and make a note of what's installed. - Switch to your new profile and visit the Chrome Web Store to reinstall each extension.
- If you had extensions installed and managed by IT (such as security or productivity tools), these may be pushed to your new profile automatically — contact IT if you're unsure.
Gmail — What to Expect
Message timestamps may look different
Google rewrites the "Received" header to the date/time of migration. If you sort by Received date rather than the original Send date, older migrated mail may appear out of order. Switch to sorting by Date to restore correct order.
Attachments over 50 MB are stripped
Google's API cannot handle messages over 50 MB. Oversized attachments are replaced with a file named .removed. If you need these files, retrieve them from the old account before it is decommissioned.
.exe files are renamed
Google blocks executable file types. Any .exe or similar file attachments (including those inside ZIPs) will be renamed with a .renamed suffix. Download originals from the old account if needed.
You may see a new label appear
A label called Migrated All Mail may appear in your inbox. This is a system safety net for archived mail that had no other labels. You can hide or delete it once you've confirmed your mail is intact.
Filters are NOT migrated automatically
Gmail filters (rules for sorting, labelling, or archiving incoming mail) must be exported from the old account and imported into the new one manually. See Section 05 for instructions.
Labels are carried over
Custom labels are migrated along with your email. However, review your label list after migration — some may appear duplicated or slightly renamed. Clean up as needed in Settings → Labels.
Export & Import Gmail Filters
Part 1 — Export filters from your old account
- Open Gmail in your old account. Click the Settings cog (⚙️) in the top-right corner, then click "See all settings".
- Click the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
- Scroll to the bottom of the filter list. Click the checkbox at the very top of the list to select all filters, or tick individual filters you want to keep.
- Click "Export". Chrome will download a file called
mailFilters.xml— save it somewhere easy to find, like your Desktop.
Part 2 — Import filters into your new account
- Open Gmail in your new verve.com account. Click the Settings cog (⚙️) → "See all settings".
- Click the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and click "Import filters".
- Click "Choose File", select the
mailFilters.xmlfile you exported, then click "Open file". - Review the list of filters that will be imported. Click "Create filters" to apply them all.
Google Drive — What to Expect
Files owned by people outside Verve won't migrate
If someone outside your Google Workspace (e.g. a client or partner) owns a file they shared with you, it will not appear in your new Drive. Ask them to re-share it with your new verve.com address after migration.
Files without a folder land in root My Drive
Files that aren't organised into a folder ("orphaned" files) will appear in the root of My Drive after migration. If your Drive looks cluttered, this is likely why. Create folders and organise as needed.
Old shared files may reappear
If you previously removed files from your "Shared with me" view (without deleting them), they will reappear after migration. This is expected — simply hide or remove them again from your new Drive.
Stars are not migrated
Files you had starred in the old Drive will not be starred in the new one. After migration, take a few minutes to re-star your most important files in Google Drive.
Calendar — What to Expect
Check long-running series after migration
Recurring event series are migrated, but exceptions (like individual instances where you changed the attendees or time) may revert to the series default. Review any recurring events that had one-off changes after migration completes.
Attachments require an extra step
Files attached to calendar events are migrated to a folder in your My Drive (e.g. "Migrated Calendar Attachments") rather than remaining embedded in the event. Check this folder after migration if you're missing event attachments.
Old calendars may reappear
Calendars you had previously hidden may reappear after migration. Go to My Calendars in the sidebar and hide or delete any you no longer need.
External attendees won't get auto-updates
Google Workspace guests (people outside Verve) will not automatically receive event update notifications from your migrated calendar. When editing migrated events, ensure you tick "Send updates to guests" to notify them.
Meet links will not be migrated
Existing Google Meet links attached to calendar events will not carry over to the new account. After migration, open any recurring or upcoming meetings and click "Add Google Meet video conferencing" to generate a new link — then notify attendees of the updated details.
Room bookings must be re-added
Meeting room resources will not be preserved on migrated events. After migration, edit any events that had a room booked and re-add the room using the "Rooms" section in the event editor. Check availability at the time of re-booking to avoid conflicts.
Your Migration Checklist
Before your migration date
- Back up any critical large attachments — emails over 50 MB will have attachments stripped during migration. Save anything important locally or to Drive.
- Export your Gmail filters — go to Gmail Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses → Export, and save the XML file.
- Export your Chrome bookmarks — visit
chrome://bookmarks, use the menu to export and save the HTML file. - Note any externally owned Drive files — identify files shared with you by people outside Verve and ask them to re-share using your new address after migration.
- Check your "Other Calendars" and secondary calendars — note which ones you actively use so you can re-hide any that reappear after migration.
On or shortly after your migration date
- Sign in to your new verve.com account and confirm your email, Drive, Calendar, and Chat are all visible.
- Set up your new Chrome profile — follow the instructions in Section 03 to get your browser environment set up with the new account.
- Import your Gmail filters — follow Section 05 to re-apply your email rules in the new account.
- Import your Chrome bookmarks — follow Section 09 to restore your bookmarks in your new Chrome profile.
- Re-star important Drive files — starred status does not migrate, so take a few minutes to re-star your essentials.
- Review your Calendar — check recurring events and secondary calendars; hide any that shouldn't be visible.
- Check the login reference table above — confirm which Google account to use for each app during the transition period.
- Update any external people or services with your new verve.com email address as needed.
